SAVANNAH AHRENS SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
For the last few years, the NCSA selects one individual who has distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior as the Sportsmanship Award Winner. This year, the NCSA will do the same but we are happy to announce that the award will now be called, “The Savannah Ahrens Award.”
Savannah dedicated well over a decade to the NCSA, first as a player then most recently as the Vice-President of Operations. In January of 2022, Savanah made the difficult but honorable decision to retire from the NCSA to spend more time with her young family. That being said, without Savannah’s dedication, commitment and enthusiasm, the NCSA would not be where it is today. That is why we are honored to name this distinguished award after her.
In order to nominate a player for the Savannah Ahrens Award, please email a testimonial (500 words maximum) to Christian Smith at [email protected] by the extended deadline of Monday, July 13th. Information to include in the testimonial is detailed in the nomination form.

NCSA OPENING DIVISION II FOR 23/24 SEASON
The NCSA is thrilled to open up Division II in the NCSA starting the 2023-2024 season. With the tremendous growth over the years, the NCSA has hit it’s team membership goal in order to offer up Division DII to new and developing programs for the 23/24 season. By opening Division II, new and current developing teams will have the opportunity to compete on a more level playing field which will improve the quality of play & the spirits of players on the field. This will in turn have a trickle-down effect that will have a positive impact on the club as a whole allowing them to thrive on and off the field. “We’ve seen first-hand the positive impact that Division II offers all our member teams on the club baseball side of things”, said VP of Softball Operations, Christian Smith. The National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) first opened Division II in 2008 and has since opened Division III in 2018. “When teams compete on a level playing field against their peers and know that they have an opportunity to compete for a post-season berth, the confidence and will to succeed for these programs is unmatched,” said Smith. “This then allows the players to become excited to practice, to play, and most importantly to be a part of the team. The success of the club will thrive year after year.”
Any new teams for the 2023/2024 will automatically be placed in Division II as long as the NCSA is able to offer a Division II conference for them to play in. Any current NCSA team that feels Division II will be a good fit for them can petition the NCSA to move to Division II. For the 24/25 NCSA season, Division II teams can petition the NCSA to move to Division I. Like the NCSA Division I, the NCSA Division II will have regular season conference play and a post season including a National Championship (World Series) Tournament.
Any questions, regarding Division II can be directed to Christian Smith with the NCSA at 412-321-8440 x104 or [email protected].
